Apple Falling Behind on AI

We’ve just had a big tech season. Between Facebook’s F8 conference, Google’s I/O Conference and Apple’s most recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) we’ve seen the big plans that these tech companies plan on focusing on over this next year. As a huge Apple supporter, I have to say, companies like Google in particular are giving Apple a run for their money.

How You Can Rescue Your Facebook Organic Reach

After Facebook started changing things around for business pages, it made organic reach on Facebook pretty close to dead.  The whole point of having a social media presence is to interact with customers and followers.  Without people seeing your posts, this can be pretty difficult to do. If you’re tired of seeing posts that only end up in front of anywhere from one to twenty followers at most, there are a few things that you can do to recover a little bit of your reach which translates into increased engagement.

Top 3 Mobile Social Media Management Apps

In order to run effective social media campaigns, you have to be able to run them from anywhere.  You may have a post that has to go out, notes on content that need to be added, or a nasty review that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. It can’t always wait until you get back to a computer.  Also, running an effective social media campaign shouldn’t mean that you have to be tied to your desk all day long.  Here are the top 3 social media management apps that I’ve found to be most useful over the last few years.

Facebook's Solar-Powered Internet Drone Giving Google's Project Loon Competition

The race has been on to extend internet connectivity to all corners of the world.  We’ve been keeping up with Google’s Project Loon’s progress for the past few years.  This past Thursday, Facebook announced that it had successfully completed a test flight of its unmanned solar-powered drone Aquila.

The Death of Instagram

Instagram has been making some big changes and a lot of people aren’t very happy about it.  They’ve changed their model.  Sponsored posts, formula based arrangement of posts, and more.  Will this have users flocking away from it? We think so.  Photo and video sharing apps are a dime a dozen right now; if people aren’t getting what they want from a social network or app –they are moving on.

Reaction to Facebook Reactions

For years now, people have been begging Facebook for the capability to react beyond a ‘like’.  Think of all the instances that people post status updates on Facebook.  These are not all happy posts. If someone has a family member pass away, and they write a heartfelt tribute to the person, do you like it?  It was a nice sentiment, but someone has still passed away. Many people suggested a ‘dislike’ button.  That idea was vetoed by Facebook for the possible negative uses of the function. So, what did they decide to do instead? Well, they did expand the capabilities of the ‘like’ button by launching ‘reactions’.

HootSuite vs TweetDeck

Whether you’re managing social media campaigns for your own business or for multiple businesses as a consultant, the right tools are the keys to success.  There are several different platforms that you can use to schedule your tweets, keep up to date with accounts, and track activity.  Which is more valuable though? Which is a better fit for you?  Well, I’m here to help with that.

Biggest Online Marketing Misconceptions

Social media marketing, content marketing, and any sort of online marketing in general.  What do all of these things have in common? Anyone can do them, right? Well, in theory yes.  In reality, not so much.  The problem is that people jump headfirst into marketing online for their businesses and fall into the trap of some common and unfortunate misconceptions.

Brazil: A Threatened Digital Generation Fights for the Open Web

If you’ve been paying attention in the social media and tech world over the last few weeks, you may have heard that there is some conflict in Brazil.  Recently, a Brazilian judge shut down WhatsApp and it’s looking more and more like Brazil’s congress wants to shut down the social web next.  Currently, WhatsApp is the single most used app in Brazil, with about 93 million users, or 93% of the country’s internet population.  The court-ordered 48 hour blackout across Brazil was instated as a result of the app refusing to turn over data in an investigation.   It came back online 12 hours into the blackout after a second judge ruled that “it does not seem reasonable that millions of users are affected” and suggested a financial penalty instead.  The bigger question on people’s minds currently is –what’s next?

Let the Beacon Technology Explosion Begin

We introduced you to the iBeacon technology back in 2013, and since the initial shock waves hit everyone’s systems, we haven’t checked back in with you a ton.  Lately though, this Beacon technology is making a huge impression.  In recent headlines, Apple’s iBeacon is the set standard of this technology, Google has swooped in with Beacon technology of their own, a whole town in Georgia was taken over by Beacons, and Facebook is offering free Bluetooth Beacons for business owners. Where do we begin?

Consultants: The Importance of Being an Expert

As a consultant, you’ll run into situations nearly daily where you are meeting new people who want to hear about what you do. I get questions regularly on topics that I consult on. Many times these conversations come up on the spot and out of a normal business environment.  So, what do you do when you’re approached, totally unprepared, and you have to talk about your business out of the blue? Do you know your business well enough that you can stop whatever you’re doing and come up with an intelligent informed conversation? As a consultant, this is a must.
