SpaceX Rocket May Have Crashed, but Morale Hasn't Burned Out

SpaceX Rocket May Have Crashed, but Morale Hasn't Burned Out

Not surprisingly, the SpaceX reusable rocket had a crash landing.  We talked about the upcoming launch last week: here.  Because launching a rocket into space isn't hard enough, Elon Musk decided to try to bring one safely back to earth by landing it on a floating ship.  The idea, if executed properly, would save an absurd amount of money.  This is a revolutionary concept and there are bound to be a few set backs and learning curves.

What most stood out about this whole process was Musk's leadership style and SpaceX's company culture.  Everyone watched as their rocket crashed and Elon Musk live tweeted.  His response was quick and positive:

"Rocket made it to drone spaceport ship, but landed hard. Close, but no cigar this time. Bodes well for the future tho."

He then went on to say they'll piece together all the different aspects to figure out how to best move forward.  His tone was positive, upbeat, and happy.  He then went on to thank his employees:

"Am super proud of my crew for making huge strides towards reusability on this mission. You guys rock!"

Talk about a morale booster!  The culture of that company lives on positive reinforcement and his impressive leadership style.  The culture that he creates encourages everyone to go out of their way to go above and beyond.  To be bigger and better.  His leadership style is secondary only to his vision, but the intensity that he gets behind his ideas only encourages people to follow him for his confindence in his visions.

This idea is a great one.  It's one that he's taken and run with and his positive outlook has convinced many others to run right alongside him with the same level of confidence.  I mean really though, if Musk recovers just one rocket in the next ten launches, how much money would that be saving.  He is revolutionizing space travel and he has a great team at his side because they can see the vision he has thought up and the confidence and postive energy surrounding that vision.

There are many different leadership styles.  I would argue that Musk's is one of the best.  The positive culture that he has in his companies is worth noting.  What do you think are some of the top leadership styles?  Some of the worst?  Which companies do you think have a great culture?  Comment below!
