Tesla’s Model X Electric Crossover SUV will officially be unveiled on the night of September 29th at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, CA.  With invitations for the event now sent out to the press, it’s time for us to sit and speculate.  The Model X has been highly anticipated.  It is Tesla’s third car, Tesla’s first SUV, and it has a whole host of features new to the Tesla brand.

From TechTimes:

This crossover will use a version of the electric all-wheel drive power train which is found in the Model S “D” versions. The Model X will also boast of a taller chassis wrapped around the car. Moreover, the new model will be equipped with a tougher suspension beneath.

“Every Model X comes with all-wheel drive standard, powered by two independent, digitally controlled electric motors. Brilliantly functional Falcon Wing rear doors fold up and out of the way to allow easy access to third row seats,” reads the reservation page of the Model X on the company’s website.

The company itself has very high hopes for this new Tesla model.  Musk is expecting the Model X to see as much demand as the S, and he predicts that the demand for the X will surpass that for the S. He may be on to something as customers have already made reservations for the Model X to the tune of $132,000.  Those customers are now able to begin customizing those vehicles and, after the unveiling on the 29th, we’ll know more of what that means exactly.

What we do know is that the Model X, as an SUV, will have three rows of seats.  The second row has the ability to be moved forward which allows more space in that back.  The last row can be folded down for more storage space.  The vehicle is standard all-wheel-drive. We hear that the electric car can run for 250 miles on a single charge. The Model X also has sensors installed that allow the car to avoid obstacles.  Tesla released a teaser image of the Model X which showed that the car’s side doors, hinged along a central roof beam, will open upwards.   Tesla calls this style “falcon-wing”.

And now, we wait for the 29th.  What are your speculations? What have you gathered from Tesla’s teaser image or the specs up on the Tesla website? What would you like to see in the Model X? Comment below!
