And now that the event is over, what’s our takeaway? Well, here are 8 things we learned at Comic-Con 2013:

1. There’s a Superman/Batman Movie Coming in 2015

That’s right, Superman and Batman are really teaming up on the big screen. Warner Brothers is planning a 2015 release that is bringing these two heroes together. The Last Son of Krypton and the Caped Crusador will come together with “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill in his role as Superman. Along with Cavill, actors Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne will also be returning. Who will play our new Dark Knight? Well, that is still a mystery. What we do know is that David Goyer is writing the screenplay. In the director’s chair? Zack Snyder returns to the director’s chair. We can only stay tuned to see what will unfold.

2. The ‘Avengers’ Sequel Gets a Title

What is it, you ask? It’s ‘Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. This was a big event for the close of Comic-Con 2013 when Marvel took center stage to reveal the title of the second installment of ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’. As with the Superman/Batman movie, the new ‘Avengers’ chapter is set to release in 2015. Where did the ‘Age of Ultron’ come from? Well, this sequel seems like it will most likely be based on the ten-issue series of comics by the same name. That series was published this year.

3. Andrew Garfield is Spiderman

Andrew Garfield appeared on the Hall H panel for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in full costume. If that wasn’t good enough, Garfield not only donned costume but also full character. He asked, “Who’s Andrew?” -spoke in an American accent.

4. ‘Warcraft’ Directed by Duncan Jones… Seriously

It’s been quite some time that the “World of Warcraft” movie has been in development. Some may believe it is never going to happen. Fortunately, Lengendary Pictures has announced (and confirmed) that Duncan Jones is directing “Warcraft”. It was further confirmed by Jones who introduced some “concept footage” for the film that pictured an armored human preparing for an orc.

5. Godzilla Is Standing Up Against Competition

We learned that this ‘Godzilla’ reboot is set to feature several giant monsters. Director Gareth Edwards showed footage of Godzilla and other giant monsters. One of these monsters was a winged beast that could be Mothra. We’ll see how the new ‘Godzilla’ stands up now!

6. ‘X-Men’ Turns ‘Avengers’ On Us

Fox kept the description of their 90 minute panel to “TBA” on the Comic-Con roster. Result? We were suspicious. Part-way through the panel, Bryan Singer emerges and then goes on to bring out a majority of the cast of summer 2014’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ and let Comic-Con goers view a first trailer for this flick. Who did the cast include? Oh, just: Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, Peter Dinklage, and several more.

7. ‘Captain America’ Sequel Talks

Marvel announced film ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. With most of the ensemble in tow, co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo talked about the tone of the sequel and that they’re aiming for a ’70s-style political thriller. They then gave a first look at some footage from the upcoming film. They explained that Robert Redford made sense with the sequel because he would fit in with the overall tone they were going for.

8. ‘The Hunger Games’ First Go at Comic-Con is a Success

The cast showed off their much-anticipated trailor reveal for the second installment in the Hunger Games series. The cast also showed off their amazing chemistry and left Con-goers wanting more. It was, of course, due to Jennifer Lawrence’s great laid back sense of humor and the overall chemistry and closeness of the cast. We’re all ready for the next movie and ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ seems eager to please.
