From Forbes:

“Google is planning to spend $1 billion on a fleet of satellites that will bring internet to the world’s most remote areas, the Wall Street Journal has revealed. The plan is to start with 180 small high-capacity satellites that will orbit the earth at lower altitudes than normal satellites, according to ‘people familiar with the project’.”
